Although we planned for 15,000 people, to our surprise more than 35,000 visitors attended this special festival celebrating 150 years of trade between Japan and the UK.
We originally approached the Minister of Culture at the Japanese Embassy in the Autumn of 2008 with the idea for creating a large scale festival in Spitalfields , East London, for 2009.
From that point on we advised and co-ordinated the strategy for the event including its web site and social media presence, and were fully involved as project managers throughout the day itself.
This was a superb opportunity for the Japanese community to come into contact with Londoners. Also, there were benefits for the whole of this area of London, which has a long tradition of welcoming communites from around the world
